Miss Musique

One of the most frequent questions I receive is “How Much Does a String Quartet Cost?”  This is an excellent question, because if you’re planning a wedding, you need to stay on budget.  Entertainment, and particularly the music, is a central part of many couples’ wedding planning experience, so knowing the cost of a string quartet in Philadelphia is going to help immensely.

Here are some considerations:
  • 01

    The number of musicians

The string quartet (2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello) is one of the larger ensembles we offer, so generally the cost of a string quartet is going to be higher than some of our smaller ensembles due to the number of live musicians you will be hiring.

  • 02

    The number of hours

Second, to determine the cost of a string quartet, you need to know how many hours you will be hiring the musicians for. We charge based on the number of hours, not by the song. So you will pay the same price for 5 songs/hour as you will for 20 songs/hour!

    Add-ons?

Next, will you be adding any other instruments to your string quartet? Pricing will be higher if you’re going to add on other instruments like a harp or a guitar.

  • 04

    Location

Location is a factor that will influence the price of a string quartet. Any venue within 30 miles of Philadelphia is going to be included in the price, so you won’t have to worry about any extra fees. However, if your wedding is outside of that radius, make sure you mention it up front so we can give you an accurate estimate!

    Average price

The average cost of a string quartet in Philadelphia is going to be in the $1,000-$3,000 range. So make sure you take that into consideration when planning your entertainment budget!

I hope this blog post helped you to narrow down your entertainment budget!
